Introduction:
With the retirement of most physical fax machines and associated lines, CAS ICT strongly recommends that all communications of this nature are carried out via Email instead. Email is more secure, trackable, and can be easily addressed directly to the correct recipient.
In limited circumstances where this is not possible, we have made available 'eFax' services, for use in the interim.
Requirements:
- An active eFax service - these can be checked or arranged through CAS ICT Helpdesk. Raise a purchasing request if you do not yet have an eFax service
- An active CAS ICT email account, authorised to send faxes through your eFax Service. Raise a helpdesk request to check your email account is authorised to send faxes.
- The fax number of your intended recipient including (always) the country code and area code.
Prepare and send a fax:
- Scan or prepare the document you wish to send to the other party. PDF format is strongly recommended.
- Determine the full international number of your recipient.
For example, an imaginary Sydney number 9123 4567, would be expressed as 61 2 9123 4567, the leading '61' being the Australian country code, and the '2' being the NSW state code. - Prepare the body of your email. This will be sent as the covering page to your fax. All emails sent will include mandatory privacy notice attachments, so if you leave the covering page blank, your recipient will still receive a basic covering page.
A simple "Attention: <recipient>" and your details will usually be sufficient. - Attach the document to your email, via the normal method
- In the 'To:' address field, enter the full international number of your recipient, followed by '@efaxsend.com'.
For the example given above, you would enter 61291234567@efaxsend.com - Send the email. The eFax portal will match your email address to our account, and the fax will be sent to the number entered, from our eFax account.
Checking a fax send.
Contact the CAS ICT Helpdesk, who can log into the eFax service, and confirm the delivery report was correctly recieved.
